Staff are very hard working. They do try to answer your questions. Unfortunately every time we went my dad had been moved to another ward. Food was not the best.
After calling NHS 111, we were told to go straight to the AE at this hospital. We are in Cumbria for a month on holiday. After being checked into the AE waiting room (which was filled with the sound of hammers and metal grinders from work next door), we saw one of the nurses. She advised us that we need to get blood tests and possibly an MRI, which you need a referral for from a GP. Being away from our regular GP, the reception booked us in with the hospital's after hours GP and assured us that they can do the blood work and do a referral for an MRI. Being an after hours GP, the appointment was made for 6:30pm, so we had to leave and come back later. When we cam back at 6:25, we waited for close to an hour as the GP's reception front desk was unattended. When we asked at the main reception counter we were answered with "oh, she must have gone to get a coffee". When we were eventually seen, we were seen by a fill-in GP who said there is nothing they can do for my wife and she would have to go to A&E. After explaining the situation, she went and checked with another GP, returned and told us that they can not do referrals for MRI, and taking bloods is pointless because it will take weeks to get results and will most likely get lost. A full day of driving and sitting in waiting rooms for a wild goose chase that resulted in only to go back home more tired, fatigued, lethargic and sick then my wife was to begin with!
I had colonoscopy at Cic yesterday, the kindess care and consideration shown by all the staff put me very much at ease, and was so much appreciated, thankyou all so much for looking after me.
The most underrated staff anywhere. Every one of these wonderful ladies is dedicated to their duties. So gentle, calm and hugely talented. They certainly saved my life in the radio therapy department. Thank you so much my Florence Nightingales.
Our baby received only the best care and attention from all the staff in the Special Care Unit. We as parents received equal care and encouragement, and the staff were only too happy to answer all our questions and explain processes in layman terms. They are angels in disguise. Hmm...the standard of food in the canteen is acceptable, not brilliant and sandwiches are pretty expensive, so I'd bring your own. The Costa cafe is very handy for that necessary break.
