This centre is OK but don't expect luxury...They do great swimming lesson classes etc and is attached to the victoriana health spa and sauna which is outstanding beautiful inside... The council are wanting to demolish the pool building for a rebuild at the sands centre and it needs to happen... Its always very clean and staff are great but it's very outdated now.Also has a nice little gym for the 'I'm scared of gyms' people..
A child had a nose bleed which left a pool of blood in the mechanical play car by the reception desk. It was left uncleaned or cornered off so we didn't notice until my toddler had mounted the toy car, by which time he had blood smeared over his hands, body and face. At the time no offer of assistance was given by staff nor an explanation for why my child had been exposed to this blood. This resulted in my child having to have a series of immunisations and blood tests over the following months, to ensure he had not contracted a blood born virus from this unknown (to us) source. Had staff identified the source to us at the time this could have been avoided. After informing management I was "thanked for my feedback". No apology or reassurance about how a similar situation would be prevented in the future.
Functional, but dated facilities. Cheap way to swim if you sign up for a membership package. Staff always polite and friendly.
I enjoyed my swim. It was warm and plenty of staff around. The pools are in need of an upgrade and modernisation.
We go weekly for my son's swimming lessons. There's a lot that could do with updating but it's an old pool. Would be good if all the pools, the gym and the spa shared the same changing rooms or were accessible without getting changed and/or going outside.
