We booked our car in for a diagnostic check as the engine light came on when on holiday. Although the car was out of it's warranty, they fixed the problem for no charge and even cleaned the car. Many thanks indeed.
Worst Dealership I have ever dealt with. Would not go back or recommend to anyone. Had a fault with my Volvo S40 Drive about 18 months ago. Car went into limp mode while driving back from Manchester. Rang Lloyds Volvo Carlisle to ask for assistance and was told to bring the car in. Brought the car in and they hooked it up to diagnostics, told that the DPF Additive Module was faulty (small black box under rear seat that feeds the DPF additive into fuel). Told it was over 600 to fix. What with a new module, software, install of software, mechanics time etc.... But that's 75 + VAT for the diagnostics....Decided that seemed rather expensive so i contact a major online parts supplier that offered to take my old module in as part-ex on a refurbished one. 62.95 later and a box to post the old one back.... This simply plug in under the rear seats. Job done i thought... No such luck. Still the same fault. So rang Lloyds Volvo again and was told that they needed to reset the computer to clear the error codes. So back to Carlisle (42miles).They tried to reset the error codes and it would not clear. So after an hour they came back and told me they had run the diagnostics again (Ka-Ching! another 75 + VAT) to tell me the fault is with the DPF Filter. Hold on a minute you have just charged me for diagnostics a few weeks ago and told me it was going to cost over 600 to fix as the fault was with the DPF Additive Module. No defiantly a problem with the DPF Filter that's over 900 + to fit a new one. Now after last time i am getting a bit suspicous of this. You need this fitted as we cannot reset the error codes until it is done. Decided to get a second opinion...In the meantime, I received an email from the person I sent the DPF module back to, telling me that there was nothing wrong with the module. No errors and working perfectly... At this time i went overseas on business and did not use the car for some time. Came back and went to a local garage. A nice chap from KKS Body Repair in Frizington informs me that the DPF Filter is the same one as a Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel. That's 175 + fitting. So filter changed and all should be well. During fitting he tells me that there is no undue build up that one he took out. However, they do not have the right equipment to reset the error codes in the computer to clear the limp mode. So rang Volvo Carlisle again to book it in to reset them.Went today, Car was in 5 mins when I was told that they cannot reset the codes as there is a fault. I told them I know there is a fault as you ran the diagnostics last time and told me to replace the DPF Filter. This has now been done and I have booked this in to have the error codes reset. We have just run diagnostics and it tells us that there is a fault in the DPF Additive tank. No additive!! What, hold on when you checked this last time (here's receipt) it says additive tank full...... Why after a couple of thousand miles is it now empty (Shrug of shoulder from Manager, no idea). I booked this in to have the codes reset but you are now saying you have run diagnostics again 75 Ka-Ching! We need refill the additive tank 55 plus code reset plus diagnostics 245 in total. Ka-Ching!Now at this point I have a total sense of humour failure with them. Hold on so if you would have repaired the car in the beginning we are talking nearly 2000 to fix faults that where not never there. I would have been charged for 2 parts that were not faulty in the first place and keep getting charged for diagnostics for a fault that keeps moving. (no response)..."Then told it is policy to run diagnostics every time a vehicle comes in so the technician can identify the problem." Well it seem not in this case. "Well DPF can be difficult to diagnose as various parts are connected". So you are quite happy to keep charging customers money to replace components that are not faulty, keep charging fees to diagnose problems you cannot find. They are just here to run you up a bill, nothing more...
